Terms of Service

These terms apply to everyone who uses spoolscout.com ("SpoolScout", "the site"). By using the site, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

Our content

SpoolScout is the result of a substantial, ongoing investment in finding, reading, extracting, checking, normalising and organising filament data from manufacturer data sheets, websites and retailers. The site's content — including the filament database, normalised material properties, comparisons, rankings, filament suggestions, glossary entries, written text, and the design and layout of the site — is owned by SpoolScout and is protected by copyright and database rights. The SpoolScout name and logo are ours too.

What you can do

You're welcome to:

• Browse, search and compare filaments for your own personal use.
• Link to any page on the site.
• Quote small amounts of content (for example, a few specs in a forum post or review), as long as you credit SpoolScout and link back to the page you took it from.

What you can't do

It is against these terms to reproduce SpoolScout's content to build a competing product. Specifically, you must not:

• Copy, extract, republish or re-use all or a substantial part of the site's content, or repeatedly and systematically extract smaller parts of it, for any commercial purpose.
• Use the site's content to create, populate or improve any website, app, database, dataset, API, comparison tool or other product or service that competes with SpoolScout.
• Scrape, crawl, or otherwise access the site with bots, scripts or other automated tools, except for search engines indexing the site in line with our robots.txt.
• Use the site's content to train or fine-tune machine learning or AI models.
• Copy the site's look, feel, layout or structure, or use the SpoolScout name, or a confusingly similar name or domain, in a way that suggests a connection with us.
• Try to get around any measures we use to limit or block access to the site.

If you'd like to use SpoolScout data in a way these terms don't allow, ask us — we may be able to agree a licence.

Enforcement

If we believe you've broken these terms, we may block your access to the site, ask your host, registrar or platform to remove infringing content, and take any other action available to us, including legal action.

Accuracy

We work hard to keep the data accurate, but it's provided "as is" and may contain mistakes. Prices and availability change often, and specs can differ between batches. Always check the manufacturer's data sheet before relying on a property for anything important. We aren't liable for decisions you make based on the site's content.

Affiliate links

We receive commissions for products purchased through links on this site, including through Amazon's Affiliate Program. Purchases are made with the retailer, not with SpoolScout, and are covered by the retailer's terms.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
